How to Connect to Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™

Did you just upgrade to a brand-new Honda? Or maybe a gently used or certified model? Before you start cruising around St. Marys and Clearfield in your sweet ride, let’s get it configured to your liking. Now would be a good time to get your phone connected, whether you have an iPhone or Android. With Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, you can easily access your phone’s features when you’re
driving on the road. See how below!

How to Connect to Apple CarPlay®

If you have an iPhone, you can set up the integration with Apply CarPlay®. But first, check and see if you have an iPhone 5 or newer model running iOS 8.4 or later. These versions will support the integration of Apply CarPlay®. Then, follow these instructions:

1. Make sure your vehicle is safely parked, with the power set to ON or ACCESSORY.
2. Grab the cable that came with your iPhone, and plug it into the USB port, which should be labeled with the three-pronged logo. Then, select “yes” on the screen as confirmation when asked if you’re trying to connect a phone.
3. Press “connect” on the touchscreen to launch the menu screen.

Once you’ve finished the setup, you can do the following via Apply CarPlay®:

• Have Siri read your emails and texts
• Respond to emails and texts by voice
• Get directions with the Apple map function
• Play music from the Apple Music app
• And more!

How to Connect to Android Auto™ 

What if you have an Andriod phone in Philipsburg instead? You’ll want to begin by checking which Andriod version you have. If you have an Andriod 9.0 or one of the earlier phones, the Andriod Auto™ app must be downloaded from the Google Play Store. If you have a later model, you can skip this part as later models come with the app already installed. Next, you will do these steps:

1. Grab the cable that came with your Andriod, and plug it into the USB port, which should be labeled with the three-pronged logo. The initiation screen should automatically appear and you should select “yes” to enable Andriod Auto™.
2. Then, there’s a tutorial on the touchscreen guiding you through the steps. Follow and complete the tutorial while safely parked.
3. Once finished, press the “connect” button on the touchscreen to launch the menu screen.

Via Andriod Auto™, you can…

• Display Google Maps and use navigation features when you touch the Maps icon
• To make or receive phone calls 
• To operate Andriod Auto™ by voice when you say “Hey Google”
• To use Googe Play Music or Google Now
• And more!
